Paul Goonan was born in Myrtleford and completed his schooling locally at St Mary’s Primary School and Marian College. Through his childhood experiences in Myrtleford, Paul has a well-honed passion and commitment to regional communities and businesses.
Paul was employed by Coopers & Lybrand, Johnsons MME’s antecedent firm, in July 1993 as a trainee accountant. He started his accountancy career studying at Charles Sturt University in Albury while working and was admitted as a Chartered Accountant in May 2000. Paul qualified as a Certified Internal Auditor in June 2009.
Paul was made a Partner of Johnsons MME on 1 July 2010. Paul’s expertise is in business advisory services and internal audit. Paul is interested in sustainable business services and has been instrumental in introducing a number of new ideas to the Johnsons MME office to reduce operating costs, positive environmental outcomes and develop our carbon accounting service offerings.
On 1 July 2022 Paul stepped into the Managing Director role of Johnsons MME.
Paul has undertaken a number of coaching assignments working with businesses to set goals and implement strategies to achieve those goals.
Paul is married to Pauline and has four sons – Thomas, 11, Harry, 9, Jake, 6 and Alex, 4.
His community involvement includes being on the advisory boards of the Murray Riverina -NSW Business Chamber and the Cross Border Business Advisory Committee.
Outside of working hours, Paul’s farming background still sees him working on the land, attending local football matches, camping and spending time with his family.
